A nationally recognized and accomplished engineer in his day, Hugo Weimer ventured out in the Milwaukee area in the early 1920's and formed an engineering design firm. The firm specialized in the V-belt drive system, of which Mr. Weimer had been integral in its invention and design.
H. W. Weimer Company was founded in 1926 by engineer and inventor Hugo Weimer. The company began as an engineering and design firm, and Mr. Weimer was instrumental in the invention of the v-belt drive system.
Due to the local demand for power transmission products, Mr. Weimer expanded his engineering company into the distribution and manufacturing of power transmission components for industrial customers throughout the greater Milwaukee area.
In 1980, Dick Stangl took over as President and owner, changing the name of the company to Weimer Bearing & Transmission - better reflecting the growing focus on the supply of power transmission products and bearings. During this time, the company experienced a great period of growth, moving to a new facility in the northwest Milwaukee area.
Under the leadership of Frank Stangl, Weimer Bearing & Transmission moved its headquarters to Germantown, Wisconsin, allowing for further growth and expansion. The company has expanded to 35+ stocking locations and operates in ten states throughout the Midwest, as well as South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Arkansas. In addition to its core product offering, Weimer has added a number of high-tech motion control products, full belt fabrication services, as well as a complete offering of pneumatics and hydraulics.Responding to our customers' unique needs through the years, we now have several sister companies under the "Weimer Industries" umbrella of companies:
Throughout our growth, Weimer's commitment to total quality has been steadfast. In 1994, Weimer Bearing & Transmission achieved ISO certification, has subsequently been recertified every year since, and in 2018 we became certified in the new standard, ISO 9001:2015.
Weimer's commitment to quality in employees has never wavered. Always looking to the future, the company continues to recruit, hire and train the very best and most qualified employees in the industry. Our management team continues to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the company, with service to customers and employees, and support of our valued supplier partners being our top priorities.
With the massive consolidation in the power transmission distribution industry, Weimer Bearing is positioned today as one of the last privately-held and consistently family-owned business of its type. To maintain this position, we've steadily added new and innovative products to our offering, as well as new locations. Weimer is now heavily involved in motion control, pneumatic and linear products, electrical and electronic systems, along with specialty packaging, manufacturing and other customized industrial services. We have also expanded into other geographies, with branches in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, South Carolina, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Arkansas. Weimer is a founding member of the Independent Distributor's Cooperative (IDC-1988), and currently a leading member of Affiliated Distributors, a $75 billion buying group, which allows us to outperform the large national chaings while still retaining family ownership and local flexibility.
The future is bright for Weimer Bearing & Transmission. We will continue to grow and adapt with the changing needs of our customer base. We are firmly committed to excellence and professionalism in all facets of our business. Our growth and expansion plans are unlimited, and we intend to continue our mission of being the finest in our industry. - Richard Stangl, CEO (1980-2014)
